Two vessels make up this piece, soft touches that asks the viewer who moved first? A hand on the knee, another on the shoulder, feet intertwined with gentle familiarity. Compassion supports the heavy heart to witness and embrace. The fragility of the structure, two separate pieces held together only by their connection, emphasizes the strength of contact and connection.
Twins is made with Babu porcelain. The main vessel pieces are each individually wheel-thrown then hand-sculpted over multiple days before slowly drying. Once the porcelain is dried, it is high-fired in a gas kiln and then glazed and fired twice more. Selective details are adorned in precious 22 karat gold and fired for the last time. Electrical wiring is then threaded through the vessel and assembled.
